This week at the Dana-Fuller's

Tuesday- Melia did yoga and took the kiddos swimming for an hour. The pool is kept just warm enough so that none of the lap swimmers lose limbs to frost bite so it keeps us pretty active.
Wed- Ran on treadmill- 5 miles. 53 mins. Took some walking and water breaks.
Thursday- yoga and a new virus. ugh.
Friday- stuck home everyone had a cold.
Sat- still sneezing coughing. Family walked 2 miles and hung out at the beach for a while.
Sunday- Scotty paddled the canoe for 4 hours or so. We also moved 1/2 a ton of hay and did weeding etc. for the garden.
Monday- Nada yet. but Sage has her first summer track practice at 6 pm. I plan on digging a giant hole at 3pm or so. Should be a good time.

Melinda's Workouts

Hello fellow exercising bloggers!

It's been so long since I've been on this thing! A few weeks ago I got a nasty cold and didn't workout for two weeks, but this Sunday I ran (more like a slow jog) with NJ for about an hour, then today I walked with a friend for a little over an hour. It felt really good to be out and about, but I still feel congested when I try and run faster then a jog. Hopefully that will go away soon!

ttfn,
Melinda

PS- Kevin has been biking like a madman for the past few weeks, and if he is reading this he should really post the workouts that he has been doing.... (they seem really, really hard)!

Working it

Scott has been paddling his canoe (aka- fishing). Yesterday and today. (logging for his workers healthy benefits)

Me- Friday, I did 30 mins on the bike and 20 on the treadmill. I also did upper body weights.
Sat- I walked the dog for 1 mile.
Sunday- I did my 5 mile road run. There were some side stitches and walking breaks but it was really fun to run further than I have since Benny. I can feel the half marathon breathing down my neck.
Monday- We went to the gym. I did upper body weights again and 30 mins on the elliptical and 30 mins on the bike. and then since it is school vacay I took the kiddies to the pool. Benny screamed his high pitched scream for 5 mins and then had tons of fun. Sagey cried when I made her swim to the edge 3 feet away and then remembered how to swim and soon was swimming the width of the pool (50 ft?) with no problem. We will be going back tomorrow, I think.

Momma mouse

Aggie sick, lots of rain, no walking together. I rode the bike all days but one---shopped and walked bunch-lost 3.5 pounds since Sunday. 18.5 total and down two sizes. Wish I hadn't fallen off the wagon for 6 weeks. Oh well, all is well now!

Muscle groups

3.2 hilly miles.

It is interesting how a certain workout can be the same but feels so different. Energy levels, muscles used and mental willpower all are in flux for me.

Is it strange that last week my calves were achy, this week it is my hamstrings, even though I am jogging and hiking the same routes?

Carpe Diem

It feels like a race to get in as many hikes in as possible before the bugs come or rainy season hits.

Monday and Wednesday this week Scott and I put Sage on the bus and packed Benny around on some hikes. Monday we did Black Cat. Today we hiked the Poland Town Forest.

Tuesday I took Benny hiking on my own for 1 hour. It is a lot harder when Scott is not around to be my sherpa.

Benny is completely relaxed when in the backpack. He looks around for a while and then falls asleep. What a nice way to take your nap.

I did a 4 mile road run this weekend. I am going to try out a 5 miler soon.

Funny Quote

I attempted to trail run to the radio tower on Black Cat yesterday. It was an awesome workout. Lots of improvement to be made while jogging up hill. I found this funny quote on the Pineland Farm race website.

"In a word trail runners are sick, sick twisted people. I can say without hesitation that the Pineland Farms 50k was the hardest race I have ever run, bar none. It made road marathoning seem like a friggin Disney cartoon"

Hiking in Maine

We were so lucky this week. Melinda and Kevin were here and we had awesome weather.

I need to keep logging here for Scotty's health incentive and for my motivation so I have a little catching up to do.

Friday- Scott went wading (fishing in an intertube with fins to propel himself). I jogged 3 miles. Then K and M arrived and we all went hiking for about 3 miles?

Saturday- We walked into the state park- 2 miles

Sunday- Kevin and Scott went for a little hike and then in the afternoon our fam went back to the Beaver pond for fishing (3 miles). I packed Benny on my back. Hard work!

Monday- Scott and I sent Sagey to school, put Benny in the backpack (back on Scott's back :) ) and took a longer hiking loop. We think about 5.? miles.

Today is Scotty's rest day and I am looking forward to Yoga to stretch out the damage from carrying Benny.
