Ole school

I have been doing pushups and sit-ups- no running for several weeks. I have been attending yoga sometimes..

Today I ran across the lawn barefoot several times to see what my "ouchie" leg would do. My ankle made a lot of clicking during the running but my the muscles that have been hurting are not acting up. So far so good. I am really anxious to start up again. I am thinking of short 20 min runs in about a week.

in my downtime. I have read some running books and found a few running movies that have "moved me" to tears during my running hiatus.

Sometimes I think a half marathon will be too much and sometimes it feels doable in early Oct. .... I have no idea what it will be in the end, and that is okay.

Shifting Gears

Today I did a 4.3 mile bike ride. It felt good to have blood pumping again. It went pretty well and I know I have some to learn about shifting gears. I was very happy not to have to walk my bike up any hills.

Breathe in.... breathe out....

Sorry for my online-freak-out. I am feeling more centered and rational now. I have come to the realization that I will not be running for a week but I still will be great in the long run. The race on the 29th will be awesome due to the company and I will be proud of my efforts this year no matter what. My time goal is 31:o0.

I went to Yoga for the first time in a while. I have been sacrificing Yoga for Running and Yard Work during the past few months. Although I have enjoyed the extra time, I know that I have been off balance, trying to run further and further and not spending the time to listen to my body.

My yoga instructor was kind enough to structured the class to help my calves. Structured prolonged stretching is just what I needed.

I want to remember that Yoga should be the backbone of my fitness regime. It keeps me in tune with my physiology. I am still focused on a half marathon. I will do it. Yoga twice a week will help my focus, endurance, body alignment and balance. These things will help me avoid injury and meet my goal.

Yay!

Dreaming...

Last night I dreamt I was playing soccer. I woke up with my calves completely on fire. I hope that counts for a workout because when I tried to run today it was like someone stabbing me in the calves. I guess I should go back to yoga class tomorrow.

Ummm Last week I ran on Monday, wednesday and walked 4 miles Friday. Sat I ran on the racing off-road course for about 3.5 miles. Calves hurt during my workouts all week. I think I overdid it on (last week) Saturday.

Anxious Nerd does Math

This is the "race profile" for the upcoming Trail Running Event. I wasn't sure how the lines on this chart related to the hills in real life. It couldn't possibly be to scale, right?

I have been playing with the incline on the treadmill at the gym and a 6% incline seemed tough after a while when I try to maintain my usual pace. So I guessed the toughest hill might be a 60% incline or so.

Today I thought I would get real scientific and actually figure out the incline for the race- mostly focusing on that last long hill. According to my calculations the incline is.... 200%! Whaaaaaatt? I don't think the treadmill goes that high. I guess I have no idea what to expect as far as a time goal. I better run up Black Cat on Saturday.

And of course, always show your work. I hope I did something wrong. ; )

Running........

Wednesday. I ran 5 miles.

Friday, i did 30 min on the elliptical and 30 on the bike.

Sat. I ran on the road at midday. It was hot and a lot of work.... I did "sand intervals" to help me get ready for the trail race at the end of the month. 3.2 miles- It took me forever to finish. I could tell be my new tan lines, hahaha

This morning I have a very clear plan for my treadmill run, I stuck to it and it went better than I imagined. 5.75 miles in 60 mins!

I am very very proud. Now for an early dinner and track practice for Sagey.

On the road with Aggie again

Great walk this morning-beautiful weather-spring flowers everywhere. What a treat. We were tired on the first hill! 5 miles on the bike at the club.

Sunday 5 miles on the bike and 1 mile on the treadmill.

This week at the Dana-Fuller's

Tuesday- Melia did yoga and took the kiddos swimming for an hour. The pool is kept just warm enough so that none of the lap swimmers lose limbs to frost bite so it keeps us pretty active.
Wed- Ran on treadmill- 5 miles. 53 mins. Took some walking and water breaks.
Thursday- yoga and a new virus. ugh.
Friday- stuck home everyone had a cold.
Sat- still sneezing coughing. Family walked 2 miles and hung out at the beach for a while.
Sunday- Scotty paddled the canoe for 4 hours or so. We also moved 1/2 a ton of hay and did weeding etc. for the garden.
Monday- Nada yet. but Sage has her first summer track practice at 6 pm. I plan on digging a giant hole at 3pm or so. Should be a good time.

Melinda's Workouts

Hello fellow exercising bloggers!

It's been so long since I've been on this thing! A few weeks ago I got a nasty cold and didn't workout for two weeks, but this Sunday I ran (more like a slow jog) with NJ for about an hour, then today I walked with a friend for a little over an hour. It felt really good to be out and about, but I still feel congested when I try and run faster then a jog. Hopefully that will go away soon!

ttfn,
Melinda

PS- Kevin has been biking like a madman for the past few weeks, and if he is reading this he should really post the workouts that he has been doing.... (they seem really, really hard)!

Working it

Scott has been paddling his canoe (aka- fishing). Yesterday and today. (logging for his workers healthy benefits)

Me- Friday, I did 30 mins on the bike and 20 on the treadmill. I also did upper body weights.
Sat- I walked the dog for 1 mile.
Sunday- I did my 5 mile road run. There were some side stitches and walking breaks but it was really fun to run further than I have since Benny. I can feel the half marathon breathing down my neck.
Monday- We went to the gym. I did upper body weights again and 30 mins on the elliptical and 30 mins on the bike. and then since it is school vacay I took the kiddies to the pool. Benny screamed his high pitched scream for 5 mins and then had tons of fun. Sagey cried when I made her swim to the edge 3 feet away and then remembered how to swim and soon was swimming the width of the pool (50 ft?) with no problem. We will be going back tomorrow, I think.

Aggie sick, lots of rain, no walking together. I rode the bike all days but one---shopped and walked bunch-lost 3.5 pounds since Sunday. 18.5 total and down two sizes. Wish I hadn't fallen off the wagon for 6 weeks. Oh well, all is well now!

Muscle groups

3.2 hilly miles.

It is interesting how a certain workout can be the same but feels so different. Energy levels, muscles used and mental willpower all are in flux for me.

Is it strange that last week my calves were achy, this week it is my hamstrings, even though I am jogging and hiking the same routes?

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Carpe Diem

It feels like a race to get in as many hikes in as possible before the bugs come or rainy season hits.

Monday and Wednesday this week Scott and I put Sage on the bus and packed Benny around on some hikes. Monday we did Black Cat. Today we hiked the Poland Town Forest.

Tuesday I took Benny hiking on my own for 1 hour. It is a lot harder when Scott is not around to be my sherpa.

Benny is completely relaxed when in the backpack. He looks around for a while and then falls asleep. What a nice way to take your nap.

I did a 4 mile road run this weekend. I am going to try out a 5 miler soon.

Funny Quote

I attempted to trail run to the radio tower on Black Cat yesterday. It was an awesome workout. Lots of improvement to be made while jogging up hill. I found this funny quote on the Pineland Farm race website.

"In a word trail runners are sick, sick twisted people. I can say without hesitation that the Pineland Farms 50k was the hardest race I have ever run, bar none. It made road marathoning seem like a friggin Disney cartoon"

Hiking in Maine

We were so lucky this week. Melinda and Kevin were here and we had awesome weather.

I need to keep logging here for Scotty's health incentive and for my motivation so I have a little catching up to do.

Friday- Scott went wading (fishing in an intertube with fins to propel himself). I jogged 3 miles. Then K and M arrived and we all went hiking for about 3 miles?

Saturday- We walked into the state park- 2 miles

Sunday- Kevin and Scott went for a little hike and then in the afternoon our fam went back to the Beaver pond for fishing (3 miles). I packed Benny on my back. Hard work!

Monday- Scott and I sent Sagey to school, put Benny in the backpack (back on Scott's back :) ) and took a longer hiking loop. We think about 5.? miles.

Today is Scotty's rest day and I am looking forward to Yoga to stretch out the damage from carrying Benny.

Family fitness

Satuday we hiked in the Poland Town Forest. I think we did just over 2 miles. Sage was excited to sign the guest book at the new sign.

Sunday the kids began feeling sick. Scott did some Mt. biking, Sage joined me for a little jogging on her bike and then on foot. (1 mile) Then I ran a second mile with some big hills.

Sore legs

I went for a bike ride on Sat looking for hills to climb and then on Sunday Melinda and I went to the gym and ran a 5k together. We pushed it pretty hard for my speed and I'm sore today. Hoping to still do the 5k at the end of May out by Portland -- The Pineland Farms Trail Running Festival.

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Bravo for me!

I got back on the bike this morning, and it felt so good---10miles. I do know I get bored and 10 miles at a time is my max. I may go to doing it in the morning and then the afternoon, too-for 20 miles a day.

Off the food wagon too long-no more baking cinnamon rolls! They are killers!

Gardening time-weeds, stuff for the greenhouse. Rain is a comin'. Art is at the boat again today trying to get more done before the rain. xxoo to all

Lots of weeding Monday-3.5 mile walks on Wednesday and Friday. I need to get back on the bike! xxoo

Cardio Swinging

Hello y'all,

Running is still my focus but this week I decided to be less focused. I hope it works to my advantage. For some reason at 25 mins of running I feel like I have had it. Hopefully the break will help.

Tuesday was yoga
Wednesday- face paced 25 min run, 10 mins of elliptical and 15 mins of the stairmaster.
Thursday- too nice to spend the day in the gym. I chased B around the yard for a few hours and then we went walking with a friend for 2 miles.
Friday- 30 minutes of biking, 30 mins on the elliptical. 20 minutes of weight and stretching.

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Got to get going

Have been doing spring yard work lately. That's been my exercise. Yesterday working on genealogy wasn't much. Today: Showery. Need to do a good jog/walk. Let's see what the wx does.

The Fake Four Mile Hike

Hello fit family! It's been awhile since I've posted, so I'll catch you up on our weekend exercises...
Saturday we went on a four mile hike that was only actually two miles. (see our blog for pictures and details).

Sunday we went to the gym and I elypticaled for 40 minutes then walked for 20 minutes and Kevin stair mastered for 30 minutes, lifted weights, and ran a mile on the treadmill. I think that I over did it a bit because my foot is really sore and swollen today.. bummer. Hope it feels better tomorrow.

Happy working out!

My rowing partner.

Today I ran for 3.2 miles and did the rowing machine for 10 mins. A very cute old man escaped his silver sneakers class and rowed next to me. He kept shouting things like, "I'll race you across the lake," "Stroke, stroke!" "Send a life boat! I am done!" Hahaha. It made my day.

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Does pulling weeds and shoveling count?

Saturday --rode the bike 15 minutes= weed weed
Sunday-Shovel shovel shovel weed weed

PS It is a long reach to the ground to pick the weeds when one has to get by my tummy!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Thurs - Sat

Thursday Sage and I played hookie to go to the dentist.

Friday I ran 5.2 miles. It felt great.

Saturday we took the family to the state park, Sage biked, Benny strolled, I walked, Scotty skated. Nobody stripped down to jump in the lake this time. 63 degrees today. 2 miles.

A good run

Monday, I had a frustrating running experience. My whole body just felt slow (despite the new shoes :) ) I did have to run on an ancient treadmill called "StarTrack" complete with 80s inspired graphics. (3 miles)

Tuesday I got back to yoga. It felt great.

Wednesday- Running! A good run! And some elliptical... My favorite brand of treadmill is everyones' favorite. So I stalked one on the elliptical for a while. (3.5 miles- with some faster intervals. 7.1 MPH was my best interval! I felt great afterwards.)

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Not much exercise

Another apple class today, and things are looking better, but no recovery of all the pictures. Trimmed bushes and took a trip to Eisley's to get fertilizer for the plants, and a flat of pansys. Walk with Aggie in the morning, and teach Jodi Pisarek how to make jam in the morning, too. Then-lots of gardening...fell off the good food wagon, and need to hop back on!

Monday, March 15, 2010

Walkin' and Girl Scout cookies

Aggie and I walked about 3 miles today. Felt great-The Girl Scout cookies got me! Emotional eating-darn computer drove me wild! Bike tomorrow

Bikin' Vermonters

Yesterday Melinda, Norma Jean, and I all wanted to get in a workout, so we each jumped on two wheels and set out for the dog park. Melinda was on our $20 yard-sale-score Schwinn Collegiate, I was on my Trek 520, and Norma was stuffed into her once roomy Burley Rover trailer. It's been warm here (Vermont standards...warm = upper 40's/low 50's!) so it was a good 8 mile ride to the dog park. When we arrived, Norma Jean jumped out and played for about 45 mins with her friends. When she was tuckered out (it doesn't take much) we stuffed her back into her trailer and we rode the 8 miles home. It was a great workout and some good family time. Today Melinda and I went to the gym. She did the Eliptical and I lifted weights and ran a mile and then we did an ab workout together.

hello

I haven't been blogging because I haven't been exercising. Both legs are numb and sore and I'm going for a back X-Ray next week.

I'm impressed with you all though. Way to go Fit Fullers!

Black Cat Hiking

We hiked to the top of Black Cat Mtn. today. 4 miles and quite a climb. We are all so proud of Sage for making it there and back. She said she felt like she was walking to California.

Yesterday I went back to the gym instead of running on the road. I did weights and 20 mins on the elliptical and 15 mins on the bike. I got new shoes today and am looking forward to a fresh spring in my step.

bike/upper body

5 miles on the bike-25 minutes upper body on the machines. SUNNY day, but cold-33 at 8 am! Happy day everyone!

Beautiful walk by Tripp Lake. Sagey rode her bike and we walked about 2 miles--nearly 50 degrees, but the lake was pretty frozen.

Friday at the Gym

BEAUTIFUL sunny day in Maine. Melia and I hit the gym. I did 50 minutes on the bike and 10 minutes of circuit training. Snow is melting-not very good for XC skiing for Scott!

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

On the road----

Hi-We have been walking lots in our travels and I have been doing 25-30 minutes on the bike all the time we have been in Vermont. The waffles in the serve yourself breakfast are very good-probably could do without those! Walked the Kays dog a few times a day when we were in Ohio. I'll have to hit it hard when we get home. Off to see Maine Fullers in the morning. We have such a nice family! xxoo

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Scott is back in the game.

Day 11.

Still sick. But who can complain when I got to take a 2 hour nap today. Sage is back in school and bouncing off the walls. Benny is sick. Scott is doing really well and has gone skiing twice this week. 7 miles total I think.

Scott is awesome. He has taken good care of me. Sunday, he cooked and stocked the fridge with leftovers. He has also made numerous trips to the grocers even after his night classes. Benny has discovered popsicles... at two in the morning it is really fun to watch his slurp a popsicle down. He knows what he wants and how to get it.

Doggie Daze

Hi Everybody!

Today I took Norma Jean on a 50 minute run/walk. I'm happy to say that she actually ran more than she walked! I was so proud.

checking in

Hi all,
I thought my leg was all better but we went bowling for my Birthday and my leg has ached ever since. I'm back at the acupuncturist treating the back. I think I'm officially out of the race. Walking even short distances causes lots of leg pain and I get a big tight calf muscle. I can ride the bike and do yoga and probably swim although I haven't tried. Walking and definitely running are not working for me at all.

Hope the Maine Fullers are feeling better.

Parker, the rain, the walk!

Icy rain today. Parker and I walked all the the streets near Lisa's house after we bought him a new leash and choke collar. He is smart and will learn fast with some obedience training! Nothing like a walk in the rain. Fun!

Lots of snow in Ohio.

Art and I took Parker the beagle for an hour walk this morning. Funny dog! He wants to run run run sniff sniff sniff! He woke me up in the night licking my face! Alex did an awesome job in the play!

Too many late nights watching the Olympics! I only rode 6 miles this morning. Stiff from all the pruning I did with the hedge clippers yesterday! Beautiful sunny day. Packing up to go east! Hooray for Lisa and no cancer! Whew!

Cough Cough Sneeze

Tuesday was the last workout for me. I ran on the hilly road. 3.2 miles. Everyone is at different stages of a flu now so there haven't been any workout since. Except my arms, which are getting worked by Benny.

Today I ran around the indoor track for 20 minutes and walked for a 10 minute cool-down. It felt good and tomorrow I am going to try and brave the swimming pool!

Monday, February 15, 2010

Sunday and Monday

Yesterday I ran outside on the hills again. We clocked it with the car. 3.2 miles.

Scott skiied over 6 miles yesterday. He is a little sore but is hitting again today for 2 miles. We still have a little snow. More on the way tomorrow. 10 inches maybe.

Feeling good

I started exercising again this weekend. Taking is slow though. I've been doing 45 minutes on my stationary bike. I will start yoga again on Wednesday. My hurt leg turned out to be a pinches nerve in my back. I treated it with acupuncture. It feels almost 100% better. I'll continue treatment until there is no more pain or numbness and continue with low impact exercise.

BACK ON TRACK!

After a week long fitness funk, I am back in action. Today I ran for 45 minutes on the track and did some sit-up's and Kevin ran a 5k, lifted weights, and did sit-up's with me. Now we're back home and ready for a healthy lunch.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Happy Valentine's to all my sweethearts!
10 miles on the bike. A question for Dr. Linny Fuller. The first 5 miles the back of my knee hurts. A little after that it stops hurting, and by 10 miles it feels awesome! H-m-m-m. What's the deal? xxoo

Today Kevin and I went ice boarding at Stowe. It was a really fun time and my legs are tired, even though there was VERY little snow. On the way home we went for a mile walk through the woods with Norma Jean. The trails were very icy, WE NEED SNOW!!!!

Friday and Sat for team Maine

Scott- Skiing both days 2.5 yesterday and 3.5 today. He has some hard icy snow to contend with.

Melia- Lower body weight lifting, 2.8 miles on the treadmill and Abs by Benny workout on Friday. Saturaday I took advantage of the warm sunny weather and ran on the road. 3.5 miles on some happy little hills.

Thursday good news

Hi--I rode the bike for 10 miles in the morning and 10 miles in the afternoon. Feels good. I walked the mall for quite awhile and was thrilled to buy some jeans and a sweat suit one size smaller. That's the good news. The jeans are snug, but one size smaller. Hooray! It's working!

Yoga class.

I went to yoga on Tuesday and again today. It is hard on the ego so I have learned great humbleness in my practice. Namaste.

Wednesday

Walked 3.5 miles with Aggie. We aren't very fast, but we do do some hills. Nothing in the afternoon at the gym. Got my hair cut and worked on finishing the grout on the tiles in the kitchen with Art. It looks nice!

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

3 miles in 30 with 8 seconds to spare

Yay. I made March's goal time. It was serious work. Friday I plan to do some interval training.

So my new running goal for March is to shave 1:30 off of that racing speed.
Also I am going to do two races....

1. A trail race (I really love hiking) I am trying to decide between the 5k and 10k. The race is on May 29th. I read that the route has some serious hills so I am debating between a fast paced 5k or a slow 10k. But who knows maybe by than I will feel comfortable with a moderate paced 10K.

2. A half-marathon.

And for our workouts- Scott skiied, I did weightlifting for the lower body and then ran. I did 10 min jogging for warmup and cool down.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

pedal pedal pedal

I rode 10 miles in the morning and 10 miles in the afternoon. xxoo

Monday, February 8, 2010

Walk and ride

Lost 3 pounds this week. Walked 1.5 hours with Aggie--rode the bike 10 miles at the club. Feelin' great! Wondering how I am going to get all my exercise in when we travel. I'll find a way!
xxoo

February 8th

Scott said he did at least 25 miles of walking in NYC this weekend. He had the blisters to prove it. Today he skied 4 miles.

Today I did upper body weights and 3.5 miles of running. Today I was 3 mins faster (37 mins). I think I am near my goal for Feb. of 3 miles in 33 mins. I will test it Wed. I am glad I posted the goals here on the blog so I can be accountable.

This looks like a fun running event.

VT workouts

It's been cold up here, but Norma Jean doesn't seem to mind. I took her on a 3 mile run/speed walk on Friday night and then a couple mile jog through some trails by a dog park close to the house on Saturday. It was icy so we had to take it slow, but she stayed with me the whole time--even when we encountered other dogs on the trail. She said her hellos and then ran up the trail to catch up with me. This makes me excited for the snow to melt so we can go on some fast trail runs and hikes.

Yesterday, Melinda pulled us off of the couch and we went to the gym. We ran two quick miles together and then I lifted weights and she hopped on the elliptical.

Biking and Food Closet

Rain this morning! I went to the club to ride my ten miles instead. I did 5 hours of work at the Food Closet--never stopped moving! It was lots of exercise. Came home and didn't have an ounce of energy left to ride the bike again. I may take tomorrow off. Art and I went to Sherlock Holmes. Don't waste your money---not worth it! Happy weekend all. I hope Scotty isn't buried in snow in New York!

new gym in town

Yesterday I went to look at a new gym because I heard a rumor that they had day care. The day care is not open yet. They are waiting for the kid equipment/furniture and they haven't hired the staff yet. So hopefully I can get Ceci a job and I can start working out there in the next couple of weeks :)

My leg is bother. No workouts at all for me this whole week. Today I have my 2nd acupuncture appt. He thinks I have a pinched nerve in my back.

Have a great weekend y'all!

Namaste

Yoga class on Thursday. I love it. I feel taller when it is over.

Scotty is flying to NYC today. Bennett has a show there and Scott is going to meet the gallery owners and Bennett's other connections in NYC. Hopefully he makes lots of things happen. I would love to see a Scott Fuller art show in NYC. :)

Another day at the gym

This morning I rode 10 miles
This afternoon I rode 5 miles and did a few machines for upper body. It feels good to regularly exercise!

Biking and Walking today

It is beautiful out today--somewhere around 43 with sunshine when Aggie and I walked our 3.2 miles this morning. There were several hills, so we expanded our workout. This afternoon I did 10 miles on the bike. It went fast while I watched Dr. Oz teaching about worms and parasites (you would have grossed out, Sky) and childhood obesity. I was finished before they were, and it was a good day of exercise.

Back to it

I made it to the gym today. :)
Treadmill 3.5 miles in 40 mins
Lower body weightlifting, took it easy on the weight
30 crunches and 30 bicycle crunches (or whatever it is called.)

Scott skiied, 3 miles.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Biking

10 miles on the bike. Off to see the girls at La Bou's--possible jury duty this afternoon.

Bike on-------

10 miles on the bike today at the club. Was going to go back and do it again, but didn't, so just one exercise today. Well-I exercised my brain with iMovie and learning how to use youtube tonight.

Happy Monday!

Hi everyone. I've been checking the blog to see how you all are going. Way to go Fullers. I'm very impressed with you all.

I'm still sticking to yoga and my in home stationary bike for now. My leg is bothing me and I don't want to do more.

It hasn't stopped us from enjoying the beach though. We spent yesterday and today at the beach. Today is a school holiday (Constitution Day observed). We took the puppies with us too. I wish I would have taken pictures. It was a great day.

Love to you all and keep up those heart rates!

Scott is right on track to graduate

Yesterday x-c ski for 1.5 miles. I napped. :)

Today 3.5 miles, I read a book. It was really cold out.

I think Sage will miss school tomorrow, so no gym. If I get a good nights sleep I will get up early to exercise before the kiddies wake up.

Workout Weekend

Hi fellow exercisers,

Yesterday I went to the gym and ran for 20 minutes. Today I was a home body, but I did manage to take Norma Jean for a half hour walk today. Hope everyone has a good week and exercises lots!

Where are you all?

Saturday-rest day! Rode the bike 10 miles this morning. Checked my blood pressure and it was well within the normal range------that's good, as it was Type 2 hypertension at the beginning of the month, and that's not good. Amazing what exercise does!
-11 pounds this month--mostly counting points with WW. I've got enough Weight Watcher materials to start my own branch! Happy week all.

Exercise exercise exercise!

Walking and biking

3 mile walk with Aggie this morning. Just finished 10 mile bike ride and worked up a sweat even though I took 28 minutes to bike. Did a couple machines-my arms don't quite look like Michelle Obamas yet! Shower time!!

Friday

Yesterday: 2 mile slow jog at the RR Tracks. Haven't decided what for today.

Grounded again

I had a great yoga class yesterday. I will eek out a little jog today on the treadmill. Sagey has the flu now. I am hoping this is the germs last stop.

I'm Back!

Today my neighbor and I went to the gym. I did 30 minutes of the elyptical and lifted weights. It felt really good, and I think I'll go back tomorrow!

Happy Thursday

Hi all,
I've been going to yoga and riding my stationary bike at home. I still haven't done any running.

I've had a sore leg for about a month and I'm waiting for it to go away but it's getting worse. Does anyone know what it could be or what type of therapy I could try? It's my left leg just to the left of the shin. It's the area between the shin and the muscle. It hurts all the way down but mostly up toward the knee starting about 3 inches down and mostly concentrated for about 8 inches. Locate that spot on your leg and tell me what that part is so I can google it. Sometimes my feet goes numb at night and it seems like it's all related.
I've tried massaging it and it hurts to the touch like it's bruised but it's not swollen or bruised.
Exercise doesn't bother it at all but I haven't tried running, just stretching, yoga and the bike.

Please let me know if anyone knows what that part of the body is called.

Also I've been chasing after two tiny 4 week old puppies. They are so cute. I wish you could all play with them! No we are not keeping them, just fostering them until they are strong enough and old enough to be adopted.

XOXO

Biker Mom again

10 miles on the bike at the club. It doesn't seem very hard. IGood thing--it does seem to help my sciatica/knee stuff. Upper body on machines. Gotta do something for the middle of me!

Catch Up

Hi All. I am still exercising. Just forgot to report. last two days:
Sunday: Walked Stagecoach from the top to the bench & back.
Tuesday: jogged at the tracks
Wednesday: Walk-Jogged at the tracks, but not very far. Couldn't get going.
Today is Thursday, Jan 28. I am sitting at the Airport using their connection. Hear a Westbound train on the radio. Will be working on the Park computer program after that. We are going to Apple later for a movie class.

Jan 27th

I jogged 2 miles at a nice slow pace.

Scotty and Sage snowshoed for 1 mile on a hilly trail and then Scott took a 1 mile stroll while on the phone. Good multi-tasking.

Exercised two times today

Linny, you can count one of my exercising time as yours! :) I rode 5 miles on the bike this afternoon and did weights for upper body.
xxoo to all

Motivation!

I'm logging on to say that it's Wednesday and I haven't exercised at all this week, I feel really bad. I really need to leave work and head straight to the gym... Grades were due this week and I've been staying at work for way too long, excuses, excuses, I guess. I need some motivation!

Biker Mom

10 miles today--feels good. Walkman stopped. I think it was because it was down my shirt and got sweaty! Walk in the morning-only 10% chance of rain at 8 am. Started WW today-on my own-counting points. It has worked before and will again.

I can WALK.

I walked 1 and 1/4 miles today. Feeling better.

Labels for this post

I need to start labeling posts. Scott's school is putting money towards different health incentives. Exercise=Money if it is recorded. What better way than the family blog? Scott is not the type to log in but he likes that I blog it for him. So I am going to put labels on our posts so that I can find them later.

Scotty's exercise- Today a solid effort to get a bit of exercise. Scott ran 1 very fast mile on the treadmill and he chipped ice on our pathways for 10 minutes then he showered and rush to work.

Goals

No workout today. I forgot I had to skate the walkway. Hopefully yoga class tomorrow but we will see.

I have been finalizing my goals. Here is what I've got. I will make more concrete goals for a half-marathon later.

Running-
*I will run a half-marathon or eat a worm this year. I am leaning toward the race (quite a bit).
May 2010- I will run 5 miles, 3 times a week, most weeks.
April 2010- I will run 4 miles in 45 minutes, 3 times a week, most weeks.
March 2010- I will run 3 miles in 30 minutes 3 times a week most weeks.
February 2010- I will run 3 miles in 33 minutes, 3 times a week. most weeks.

I could have kicked myself for missing today's workout, but life happens. That is why I mentioning "most weeks". Which brings up another issue, should I start my race training program early? Since injuries, illnesses and all sorts of malfunctions happen (esp with kids) should I factor in some extra weeks so that if I miss a long run I would be able to repeat the week. Will that work?

Biking

It was a slow 10 miles at the gym 26 minutes. Pouring outdoors and every machine was taken, so no upper body today.

Rest day

Biggest exercise has been cleaning closets---finally got going! Happy week all, and remember to exercise. Bam Bam a roo. We are going to be so healthy! xxxxxxooooooo

Not at 100%

Good on all of you. Sky everyone falls on their face in yoga class every once and a while. It shows you are pushing yourself.

I have done nothing since wednesdays double burn. I have been so sore and weak. Partly the workout and partly a cold. Mostly the workout, it was a little much and I didn't realize. It has been a huge chore just carrying Benny up and down the stairs.

Monday I will jump back in older and wiser.

Galleria walking

1 hour-and didn't find anything I was looking for!

still inching along

Went to a yoga class yesterday. It was my first ever classroom yoga experience. I actually fell on my face! Melia, do you know 'the stork' pose (I think that's what it was called). you balance upside down on your hands with your knees resting on your triceps. Well I was proud to be the only one in class to be able to do it and then BAM right on my face jaja.

Still just doing enough cardiac to keep the heart attacks at bay, riding my stationary bike 0 minutes a few times a week. I have yet to run even 20 yards. Maybe next week.

Chris and I are off to Cerritos alone for the whole night. Cece is coming to watch the kids. Maybe I'll try a job on the beach in the morning but don't hold me to it. XOXO

Happy exercising to all of you.

So Proud

Yeah, Mom is right. Every time I don't exercise when I have said that I would, I feel guilty knowing that other people are exercising and holding up their end of the challenge. So this week I didn't want to have that guilty feeling, and I'm happy to say that I exercised Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the gym!

I'm going to try and stick with the exercise program three times a week for the next month or so, then I'll see if I can move up to more days. For now, I'm happy with three times a week. Yesterday was the first day in a long while that I ran. I went about two miles, then walked another 15 minutes.

Today we're going snowboarding for a little while this morning. I have to say, I think that my tailbone has just barely healed from last weeks 6 hour snowboard adventure...

Have a great weekend!

Friday, January 22, 2010

Happy Birthday, Scotty-I exercised!

Walked a couple miles; I'm going to buy a Walkman-type something so I can ride the bike longer at the gym-------too boring just peddling and looking at the person next to me huffing and puffing.
Happy exercising this weekend. This blog is a good idea. Guilt (the gift that never stops giving) sets in if I decide not to exercise----and all would know! xxoo Mom

Auburn Airport, Cloudy, 39 deg.

Thursday, Walked Stagecoach from the bottom to the waterfall.
Looks like no rain this morning (Friday) think I'll jog at the RR tracks.

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Walked between the downpours!

Whew--have we had the weather. Aggie and I walked fast this morning--no rain-kinda chilly for Auburn! Felt good. Gym tomorrow.

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I almost didn't go... Glad I did!

Hey Peeps,
Today I went to the gym and did 35 minutes on the elyptical trainer... It was boring, I think I'll start running on Friday when I go. I have to say it was a helpful stress relief after a crazy day at work. I almost didn't go, but sucked it up and went, and I'm glad that I did.

double burn

30 pushups, 60 sit ups, 60 lunges (ugh), 45 squats, 3.5 miles on treadmill (40 mins.) Legs sore and rubbery now. Kids in a constant chorus of mommma... Thought i posted this and then it wasn't there, strange.......

ack! now I see the other post and can't get rid of this one.

Double burn

30 pushups, 60 lunges (yuck), 45 squats, 60 sit ups, and 3.5 miles.

Sticking to it.

I am so glad we are going the distance. Having a big HUGE ENORMOUS goal of a half marathon is really helping me. I have looked up some training programs. They will be helpful later. I am just working on my overall fitness so I can keep up with those training programs in the future.

I went to the gym today for my old yoga class. It is so cool that not much has changed. Same teacher, same regulars. The workout felt great.

Big Weekend

Well, I guess my exercise weekend started with a memorable hike up Mount Philo on Saturday... Sunday we snowboarded all day and I am sore, sore, sore! Today we took Norma on a little walk through the woods and then went to the gym. I did 35 minutes on the eliptical trainer. Hopefully this week will be a better exercise week for me . Last week, was a bad week for exercise.

Slow start for me

I can't seem to fully commit to my exercise plan. I'm a slow starter I guess. I've been hiking a little which is more for the view than anything. Today I rode my stationary bike and did a little yoga but overall I've yet to push myself. I just feel good to be moving! Our weather is delightful and perfect for sweating comfortably so I need to get on it.

I'm impressed with all of your efforts. Way to go Fullers!

Walk, ski, plow, jog

we did it all. Benny is walking now. all the time.

Scott skiied or plowed most of the day.

I jogged today, skiied yesterday.

Sagey is decorating for MLK day even though I told her that it isn't the norm. We also watched 4 versions of the speech on youtube.

Rain Walk

It was wet, but we did it! We tried to keep under the overhangs at the Bel Air shopping center. Off to REI to look for winter shoes for the trip east. Happy Day all

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Cross-country skied on thursday 45 minutes. getting kind of icy here, we need more snow.

Riding and staying put!

Biked for 5 miles-13:55 minutes at the gym. Upper body machines...done for the day. Sciatica and joints sore--biking (the bike that is more horizontal than vertical) seems to help--we'll see. Maybe I need to do that bike everyday plus the walk.

Cruising

No needy ladies this morning

We had a good walk--expecting big rain storms the next few days...II'll have to hit the bike at the club. HOORAY for Melinda and Kevin's great news! Hooray for families--our rocks! xxoo

Adventure Walk!

Aggie and I started out on our walk this morning not knowing of the adventure we were going to come upon. Over by the hospital there was this somewhat bewildered lady with blood streaming down her face and hands. She was on her way to K-Mart for Tylenol, a calendar and Fritos! She was wearing bedroom slippers and had forgotten her cane. She had fallen. We said we would walk her back to her apt (at least a mile away) but she wouldn't hear of it-just wanted to go to Kmart. We asked her if she wanted us to walk her there, and she did. She was really shaky. We didn't have our phones, but knew she wasn't going to make it to Kmart. I ran over to the barbershop by the gas station and called Dad to come get us. He took us to Kmart, and then I went home to get my car. She did the shopping, and we drove her home. She had no family that she talked with, and her apt had just paths to walk through the piles of stuff! We left her with some Bam jam and applesauce, oranges, homemade bread and a pumpkin pie. She didn't want us to check on her. So sad to alienate family...and there she was alone! I thought she was about a billion years old, but only 76! The lesson---love family, mend fences and don't fall down! Shortened walk today-we'll do more tomorrow! Love to you all!

Team Maine checking in

I am hap- hap- happy. In a tough decision we are trading cable for my gym membership. I took both kids today. Benny fit right in and played happily. I ran, 3.5 miles in 40 mins and lifted weights which felt so good.

Scott went x-c this morning. I didn't get the report back but I bet it was a 3.5 mile with lots of climbing.

We are going to be looking good this year. :)

Zan - Parked at Auburn Airport

Temp: 42 deg. Partly Cloudy. Parked at the Airport. (WiFi here)
Yesterday I walked Upper Stagecoach, then did yard work. Cut up a bunch of branched. They were "junk" wood, but I cut them up for firewood. Maybe just the thing for a quick fire in the downstairs stove.

Today: Plan to Burn if it is a burn day, probably walk Stagecoach.

Galleria walk

I spent a couple hours walking in the shopping center. Lots of sales.

Melinda 1/12/10

Yesterday was my off day and so today I did 20 minutes of easy running on the treadmill, and some pull-ups. I think being on an every other day workout schedule for me is a good idea, I always start out too fast, doing too much and end up getting burnt out or hurt.

Also, if anybody needs help with a workout plan let me know, I would love to help put one together with you.

Diet Pepsi

I haven't had any Diet Pepsi since I left Canada 11/22/09. That was a good choice. I've been tempted when tired--but drink water instead. Bravo for me!

Tuesday

No workout yesterday
Rain today, so I did a (very) light workout at the club. Elliptical & upper body. Haven't touched the upper body for a long time, so I did mostly the motions with no weight. Rain tomorrow, so i will add some weight.

January 12th

I ran 2 miles in 22 mins. I was short on time but glad I followed through with something. I chose to sleep in rather than a 5 A.M. run. It was a good choice.

Pretty sure Scott is having his day off today.

Monday, January 11, 2010

Walking

Whew! It took me until 2 pm to get out and exercise. It is much easier to walk when Aggie is here! I walked to BlockBuster to return the movies Melia and I slept through on New Year's Eve, then did a deposit for Chris at the Bank and walked home. It is totally fogged in now. B-r-r-r-r
xxoo

Race possibility

How about the MAINE Marathon? It is not exotic or new to any of us but it would be a pretty race. Oct 4th I think, It will be peak colors for fall.

Other reasons are entirely selfish- travel expenses and what to do with the kids, etc.. The race site didn't have pictures but I know the route is well chosen. Here is the link to the comments section. I thought they were nice. Of course we would be happy to host family racers here. We can make lots of room.

Bam's Sunday Exercise

I didn't see a bear, drop my ipod or see a dead bird.
I did walk to the gym, did upper body stuff on the circuit training machines
Rode 5 miles in 15 minutes. Friday I rode 4.71 miles in 45 minutes....just set the bike to a different work out and I was finished in a flash! Then I walked home. xxoo

Too cold? Won't stop us....from working out inside

We had a full day of various workouts. We started out our day at the gym. Melinda ran on the track for 20 mins and Sully ran 2 miles on the track (after fumbling his iPod off of a 2 story ledge. Rest in peace, sweet music making machine). After running, Sully pumped iron and then we both suffered through Melinda's 7 minute abs of steel workout. After the gym, we took Norma Jean on a hike and then, later, a walk around the block.

Scott and Sage skiied too.

1.5 miles. Scott says it was a slow go. I reminded him of our first bike rides with Sage and how slow they were. By fall we had jog to keep up.

Sage's favorite part was slide walking. Here is her quote, " I loved the trip even when it was hard. When I fell down daddy just helped me up. Suddenly I thought a bear was coming, I was very scared."

Went hiking

I went hiking today. It is a short walk but a good steep incline and I had to alternate carrying Evan and Hayden because they got tired fast so it was a but burner. The view from the top is beautiful. You can see the Pacific on one side and the Sea of Cortez and the marina on the other.

Conquered a Hill

X-C Skiing today. 1.5 hours. I worked on going up and down a few hills. I find that yelling things like "more pizza, no french fries, more pizza" helps me get my skis in the right position.

Stagecoach

Sunday 1-10-2010 Walked Upper Stagecoach down to Stagecoach and back. It felt good.

Fitness Attempts!

Saturday 2.5 mile walk with Aggie
Stood in one place at Apple Store for 3 hours!
I like the new computer-I actually can see it!
Made bread---ate too many slices.
Will get brave and weigh on Monday!

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Scott x-c skiied

3.5 miles and saw a dead bird.

RR Tracks

Jogged 2 miles at the tracks. One eastbound freight on the #1 (westbound) track. - Zan

Stagecoach

Getting back in shape. Walked down Stagecoach trail in Auburn to the 1 mile mark yesterday. Made it back up to the car fine. Last week I turned around before the bench and had a hard time making it back to the top. It is now Saturday and very foggy, although it is starting to look like it will burn off. I plan to do something a little later.
